RoW Latin America • In 2010 you were the favorite to represent
Portugal with ''Canta por Mim'', what lead you to decide and try
again?
Catarina:
I was invited once again by Carlos Coelho and Andrej Babic to sing
their song this year in Festival da Canção and, I didn’t think
twice saying yes because I had such a great experience with them in
2010.

R.O.L.A. • Will your entry this year, be something to dance or
something completely different?
Catarina:
We
decide to keep the same style, it’s a dance song, it is kind of a
grown version of “Canta por Mim”.

R.O.L.A. • Portugal's return was joyfully received, do you think
this will be the opportunity for the rest of Europe to give more
value to the participation of your country ?
Catarina:
Yes! I think everyone is doing their best to do a great show so, I
think that Europe will definitely notice Portugal in Eurovision.

R.O.L.A.• Did you know that you have many fans in Latin American
countries? Would you like to make some projects on our continent ?
Catarina:
I didn’t know that! It makes me so happy to know it! It would be a
pleasure to work in your continent.

R.O.L.A • Songs like Senhora do Mar, performed by Vania Fernandes
in 2008 deserved a better position or even win, and that's just one
example of many Portugal entries, how would you contribute and help
to change it?
Catarina:
I would say that Portugal could take the risk and perform a dance
song in Eurovision, something that we never did, that’s what my
team is proposing this year.

Catarina:
I’d like to thank you for all the support because it is impressive

pensé dos veces en decir que sí, porque yo tuve una gran
experiencia con ellos en el 2010.

Catarina:
se decidió mantener el mismo estilo, es una canción bailable, es
una especie de versión adulta de "Canta Por Mim" .

R.O.L.A.: El regreso de Portugal fue recibido con alegría , ¿cree que esta será la oportunidad para que el resto de Europa valore más la participación de su país?
Catarina:
¡Sí! Creo que todos están haciendo su mejor esfuerzo para hacer un
gran espectáculo así, creo que Europa va a notar definitivamente
a Portugal en Eurovisión.

R.O.L.A. :¿Sabías que tienes muchos fans en países de América
Latina? ¿Te gustaría hacer algunos proyectos en nuestro continente
?
Catarina:
No lo sabía! Me hace muy feliz saberlo! Sería un placer trabajar en
su continente.

R.O.L.A. :Canciones como ''Senhora do Mar'', a cargo de Vania
Fernandes en el 2008 merecía una mejor posición o incluso ganar, y
eso es sólo un ejemplo de muchas canciones de Portugal , ¿cómo
contribuir y ayudar a cambiarlo?
Catarina:
Yo diría que Portugal podría correr el riesgo y llevar una canción
''dance'' en Eurovisión, algo que nunca hemos hecho, eso es lo que
mi equipo está proponiendo este año.

R.O.L.A. :Una vez más gracias por tomar unos minutos de su tiempo

Catarina:
Me gustaría darle las gracias por todo el apoyo, es impresionante
ver que otros países fuera de Europa vibran con Eurovisión! Espero
que disfruten de nuestro desempeño !

is a pleasure to have you with us in this interview for Latin American
eurofans, it was a surprise when we knew about your participation in EMA
and try again to represent Slovenia in
Eurovision, you presentation 2005 will always be well remembered.
For all
those latino fans, that follows you, tell us:
OGAE RoW Latin America • What prompted you after nine years to
try again represent Slovenia in Eurovision?
Omar - I
have been invited by National TV, so this is an offer you cannot turn down. It
is an honor and I gladly accepted the invitation.
OGAE R.L.A. • From ¨Stop¨ (your entry
in Kiev), to the one for this opportunity, what differences are there? How much
have you grown as a singer?
Omar - I
have grown very much as a singer, as well as a human being. If I'm selected
again for Eurovision, I will take it way more seriously, with much more
responsibility, I act now more mature, I take care of my voice now as much as
possible, back then I didn't take care of it at all. My whole attitude has
changed since then, music is all I wanna do in my life now and is the only
thing that makes me truly happy.

OGAE R.L.A. • If the you are the lucky
winner and represent your country for the second time in the Danish capital,
what feelings would you like to transmit to viewers of Eurovision?
Omar - If I
am lucky enough to make it through this time, I will be very grateful to the
audience to have picked me, if so. I will definitely give it my best shot, I
think my song is different enough to raise eyebrows on Eurovision. Let's hope
for the best. It would be a great opportunity for me to show my music to wider
audience, as Slovenia is relatively small market. Genuine gratitude is what I
would feel the most I think.
OGAE R.L.A. • The projection of
Eurovision in Latin America is increasing year by year, some fans have been in
the shows and many of us, would like to witness it live, in a closer future,
did you know the importance of this super production for us? What do you think
of it?
Omar - To
be honest, I wasn't really aware of the importance of this festival for you
guys I must say I am very glad to hear that not only Europeans follow it. I was
aware of some small interest for it in United States, now I'm happy to hear it
goes even further It is the oldest and biggest music festival on the planet,
with biggest tradition, and it should be recognized and appreciated worldwide.
OGAE R.L.A. • Knowing the popularity
of the contest in it has among Hispanics, would you like to include in your
future plans, some of our countries?
Omar - I would absolutely love to have a promotional tour across Latin
America, but I'm afraid the costs would be quite high to do that. But if I had
a chance, I wouldn't think twice.

OGAE RoW Latinoamérica: ¿Qué te llevó después de nueve años volver a intentar representar Eslovenia en Eurovisión?
Omar: He sido invitado por la televisión nacional, por lo que esta es una oferta que no se puede rechazar, es un honor y con alegría acepté la invitación.
O.G.A.E.R.L.A.: Desde ¨Stop¨ (tu canción en Kiev), a la de esta oportunidad, ¿qué diferencias hay? ¿Cuánto ha crecido como cantante?
Omar: He crecido mucho como cantante, así como ser humano, si soy seleccionado de nuevo para Eurovisión, lo tomaré más seriamente, con mucha más responsabilidad, actúo ahora más maduro, ahora cuido la voz tanto como sea posible, en ese entonces no me ocupaba de ello en absoluto. Toda mi actitud ha cambiado desde entonces, la música es todo lo que quiero hacer en mi vida ahora, y es lo único que me hace realmente feliz.

O.G.A.E.R.L.A.: Si eres el afortunado ganador y representas a tu país por segunda vez en la capital danesa, ¿qué sentimientos te gustaría transmitir a los espectadores de Eurovisión?
Omar: Si tengo la suerte de hacerlo en esta oportunidad, estaré muy agradecido con el público que me han elegido. Definitivamente voy a dar lo mejor de mí, creo que mi canción es lo suficientemente diferente como para hacer ¨levantar las cejas¨ en Eurovisión. Esperemos lo mejor, sería una gran oportunidad para mí para demostrar mi música a una audiencia más amplia, ya que Eslovenia es relativamente pequeño mercado. Pienso que, gratitud genuina es lo que me sentiría.
O.G.E.R.L.A.: La proyección de Eurovisión en América Latina está aumentando año tras año, algunos fans han estado en los shows y a muchos de nosotros, nos gustaría presenciarlo en directo, en un futuro cercano, ¿sabías de la importancia de esta súper producción para nosotros? ¿Qué piensas de eso?
Omar: Para ser honesto, yo no era realmente consciente de la importancia de este festival para ustedes, debo decir que estoy muy contento de saber que no sólo los europeos lo siguen, estaba consciente de un pequeño interés en Estados Unidos, ahora estoy feliz de saber que va incluso más allá, es el festival de música más antiguo y más grande del planeta, con mayor tradición, y debe ser reconocido y apreciado en todo el mundo.
O.G.A.E.R.L.A.: Conociendo la popularidad del concurso entre los hispanos, te gustaría incluir en tus planes a futuro, algunos de nuestros países?
Omar: Definitivamente me encantaría tener una gira promocional en toda América Latina, me temo que los costos serían muy altos para hacer eso, pero si tuviera la oportunidad, no me lo pensaría dos veces.

Cann-Linn: ''Heartbeat represent not just Ireland, but all of Europe itself''
Hello Can- Linn,
We know that right now you're on tour and we really appreciate that you’re taking time from your schedule to answer some questions, first, congratulations for being one of the five participants selected to represent Ireland in Copenhagen with a song, that includes modern sounds and at the same time it keeps the Celtic sounds that makes people fall in love with your country.
For our Latin Eurofans tell us:
OGAE RoW LATIN AMERICA• How was the process to get into the Irish preselection?
Can-Linn - Basically, it started when Hazel [Kaneswaran] was asked by RTE (Ireland’s national TV and radio network) to mentor an act for the Eurosong, she wanted to do something that would combine traditional Irish music, with the modern urban pop sound which is very popular in Ireland right now, she teamed up with three Swedish music producers (Jonas Gladnikoff, Patrizia Helander and Rasmus Palmgren), and they worked together to create Can-Linn.
OGAE R.O.L.A. • ¨Heartbeat¨ is a strong song, passionate and with the characteristic sounds of the Irish culture, how was this song (one of the favorites to represent your country in Denmark) born?
Can-Linn - It was decided that traditional Irish instruments such as the fiddle and the bodhran should be included in order to give the song a classic Irish sound, we felt that Kasey Smith’s vocals suited the piece really well, powerful and full of charisma – a voice to represent a nation that is going through a hard time, but is determined to power through.
The lyrics are all about persevering and standing united as one, ‘Can-Linn’ comes from the Irish words which mean ‘sing together’.
OGAE R.O.L.A • In case that you win, would you change your entry? Maybe add more Celtic sounds?
Can-Linn - If we do go on to win Eurosong competition, I don’t think it would be fair to change anything about the song since the people of Ireland will have selected it to go to the Eurovision, based on its existing merits, to change it around would be to send a song that the Irish people didn’t choose – that would be unfair.
OGAE R.O.L.A. • Tell us about the experience since you were named participant in the preselection?
Can-Linn - It has been a non-stop thrill ride really, between rehearsals, radio & TV interviews and
performing live shows, we have barely had a spare minute to ourselves, it’s a good thing though, it’s nice to be busy and, working toward the Eurovision is one of the most fun and rewarding jobs in the world.
OGAE R.O.L.A. • Eurovision is an event that not only excites the Europeans but also, many people on the Latino community, did you know that? What do you think about it?
Cann-Linn - We think it’s great that the Eurovision goes out to a global audience, the more the merrier!, maybe someday there will be a super song contest where the whole world can compete and vote for each other. Imagine how cool that would be? Putting the best songs from the Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia and Australia under the one roof for an amazing show!
OGAE R.O.L.A.• Would you like to take your music to our continent?
Cann-Linn - Why not? If enough people want to see us over there it would be a great experience to take the show ‘on the road’, it would be a great opportunity to visit other countries, experience other cultures and perform in front of new audiences.
OGAE R.O.L.A. • What do you have to offer to give Ireland the eighth victory in the festival?
Cann-Linn - Our song has a really good beat to it, with a stage show to match., the lyrics are strong and represent, not just Ireland, but all of Europe itself, if we do win the Eurosong contest and get to play the Eurovision in Copenhagen, there will be a lot of other top quality songs up against us. it won’t be easy but that’s show business, we know we are a good act and, if we continue to work hard every day there’s no reason why we can’t be among the contenders come May.
OGAE R.O.L.A • What are your greatest hopes and fears in this new experience?
Cann-Linn - We’d be lying to you if we said we weren’t dreaming of winning the Eurovision outright, we wouldn’t have entered if we didn’t think we had a chance of doing so. There is no fear, we are delighted to have gotten this far, every day is a new adventure and we feel honoured to be in with a chance to represent Ireland at the Eurovision.

OGAE RoW AMERICA LATINA: ¿Cómo fue el proceso para entrar en la preselección de Irlanda ?
Can- Linn: Básicamente , todo comenzó cuando a Hazel [ Kaneswaran ] se le pidió, por parte de RTE (red nacional de radio y televisión de Irlanda), ser el mentor de una canción para el Eurosong , quería hacer algo que combinara la música tradicional irlandesa , el pop moderno combinada con sonido urbano que es muy popular en Irlanda en estos momentos , ella se asoció con tres productores musicales suecas ( Jonas Gladnikoff , Patrizia Helander y Rasmus Palmgren ), y trabajaron juntas para crear Can-Linn.

Can- Linn: Se decidió que los instrumentos tradicionales irlandeses como el violín y el bodhran se deberían incluir con el fin de dar a la canción un sonido irlandés clásico , nos pareció que la voz de Kasey Smith se adapta a la pieza muy bien, potente y llena de carisma - una voz para representar a una nación que está pasando por un momento difícil, pero que está decidida a tomar fuerza de nuevo.
Toda la letra es acerca de la perseverancia y estar unidos como un solo , 'Can - Linn ' viene de las palabras irlandesas que significa ''cantar juntos''.
OGAE R.O.L.A.: En caso de que ganaras, ¿podría cambiar la canción? Quizás añadir más sonidos celtas?
Can- Linn: Si ganamos Eurosong , no creo que sería justo cambiar nada, así la seleccionó el pueblo de Irlanda para ir a Eurovisión, en base a sus méritos ya existentes, cambiarla sería enviar una canción
que el pueblo irlandés no eligió - eso sería injusto.
OGAE R.O.L.A.: Háblenos de la experiencia adquirida desde que su nombre fue incluido como participante de la preselección ?
Can- Linn: Ha sido un ''viaje'' emocionante sin parar de verdad, entre ensayos, entrevistas de radio
y televisión y la realización de shows en vivo, apenas hemos tenido un minuto libre a nosotros
mismos, sin embargo es bueno estar ocupado y , trabajando para poder ir a Eurovisión, es uno de los trabajos más divertidos y gratificantes en el mundo .
OGAE R.O.L.A.: Eurovisión es un evento que no sólo emociona a los europeos, sino también ,
muchas personas en la comunidad latina, ¿Sabías eso ? ¿Qué piensas al respecto?
Cann - Linn: Es genial que Eurovisión salga a una audiencia global, cuantos más mejor, tal vez algún día habrá un súper concurso de canciones donde todo el mundo pueda competir y votar por los demás! . Imagina lo grato que sería?, incluyendo las mejores canciones de Europa, las Américas, África , Asia y Australia bajo el mismo techo durante un espectáculo, increíble !
OGAE R.O.L.A.: ¿Te gustaría llevar tu música a nuestro continente ?
Cann - Linn: ¿Por qué no? Si suficiente gente quiere vernos por allí , sería una gran experiencia para llevar nuestro show, sería una gran oportunidad de visitar otros países, conocer otras culturas y actuar frente a nuevas audiencias.
OGAE R.O.L.A.: ¿Qué es lo que tienes para ofrecer y dar Irlanda la octava victoria en el festival?
Cann - Linn : Nuestra canción tiene un muy buen ritmo, show en escenario a la altura, las letras son fuertes y representan , no sólo Irlanda, sino toda Europa , si ganamos Eurosong y llegamos a Eurovisión en Copenhague, habrá muchas otras canciones de alta calidad en contra nuestra no va a ser fácil, pero eso es el negocio del espectáculo, sabemos que somos una buena opción y, si continuamos trabajando duro cada día, no hay razón por la cuál no podríamos estar entre los contendientes en mayo.
OGAE R.O.L.A.: ¿Cuáles son sus mayores esperanzas y temores en esta nueva experiencia ?
Cann - Linn: Estaríamos mintiendo si dijéramos que no estamos soñando con ganar Eurovisión de plano, no habríamos entrado si no creemos que tenemos la oportunidad de hacerlo. No hay miedo, estamos encantados de haber llegado tan lejos, cada día es una nueva aventura y nos sentimos honrados de tener una oportunidad para representar a Irlanda en Eurovisión .

First, thank you very much for your time and accept to answer these questions for eurofans in the OGAE Rest of The World LATIN AMERICA Club, we have many members that are very excited because of your proposal in Melodifestivalen 2014.
For all those fans of ''Songbird'' and your voice:
OGAE RoW Latin America - Tell us a little about your musical career, this is your first time in the Melodifestivalen right?, you should have been be there in the past.
Ellen - My music career has sort of begun with Melodifestivalen, before, I got the offer to participate, I had only performed at smaller stages, I'm 18 and still in school, where I study music. Last year I was stand-in for France in Eurovision in Malmö, the stand-in job was to ease the preparation job for the eurovision producers so that they could work on the lightening, audio, picture and stuff like that before the real musicians arrived, while I was there and sung the french song L'enfer et moi Christer Björkman saw me and thought I was so good, so he called me in october and asked me if I wanted to participate in this year's competition.

O.R.L.A -Songbird is a song that touches the feelings who listen it but, what do you feel when you sing it?
Ellen - There is a lot of feelings when I sing my song, It has really grown on me and in means a lot to me, the song is about finding strength in hard times, to listen your inner voice, your inner songbird when faced with difficulties.
O.R.L.A. - Once they anounced that you passed directly to the final, you looked more secure in the stage, what will you be offering in the final of Melodifestivalen?
Ellen - I will do my best, but I won't change anything really, this is an amazing journey and I'm gonna make the best out of it, but in the end, I'm a winner anyhow and there isn't really any other way to do this than being myself and doing my thing, hopefully people like it, as long as I am happy about my performance and done my best, nothing else really matters.
O.R.L.A. - Do you plan to keep the staging or will have some surprises in the final presentation?
Ellen - There won't be that many changes, my song is all about the voice and expression, not so much about the appearance of the stage.
O.R.L.A. -Eurovision has thousands of followers across Latin America, did you know it? What do you think?
Ellen - No, I didn't know that. That is fantastic!
O.R.L.A. -Do you have plans of an album after the competition in Sweden?, and by the way any plans to conquer a diferente market like de Latin American?
Ellen - I do, we are in working process of an EP-album with Songbird and some other new songs, I'm very excited about that!, it is going to be amazing. ¨Songbird¨ is a beautiful song but I want to show you all I've got and what I can do more, so I'm thinking of a broader sound which you hopefully will like.
O.R.L.A.- What it means to you to represent Sweden in Eurovision? if you win the ''Golden ticket'' to Copenhagen.
Ellen - It would be unbelievable to be the one to represent Sweden, that would be huge, and fun of course!, but a lot of pressure as well.
O.R.L.A. - A last message for your fans in Latin America.
Ellen - Thank you for your support! It means a lot to me, hopefully we see each other in Denmark, until then, take care and cross your fingers the 8th of march... Love Ellen
